Internal Medicine Residency Programs

Welcome! The Yale Department of Internal Medicine offers a variety of residency training opportunities for medical students.  Our Yale Primary Care  and Yale Internal Medicine Traditional Residency Programs are both integrated into the core missions of our Department and have many areas of overlap while also offering unique training opportunities.  Our programs provide outstanding clinical training and academic opportunities for students interested in a career in internal medicine whether it be as a practicing or academic General Internist or Subspecialist. We strongly encourage all students interested in categorical internal medicine training to apply to both of our programs and learn the unique features of each through the interview process. Students do not reduce their competitiveness for either program by applying to both.

In collaboration with our colleagues in the Yale Department of Pediatrics, we also offer an outstanding combined training program in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, our Yale Combined Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program, that leads to Board eligibility in both fields.

Links to each residency training program are also found in the callout box on the right side of this webpage.

Please visit the Yale Department of Internal Medicine website for more information, including links to our various Fellowship Programs.
