Preliminary Track
Only preliminary track applicants will be able to participate in one of the dates below. Preliminary residents have 3 possible options at the end of their first year: the Traditional Internal Medicine Program, the Primary Care Internal Medicine Program, or a residency program in another specialty outside of Internal Medicine (i.e., Anesthesiology or Neurology).
All dates are subject to change or cancellation.

Enter the 333 Cedar Street (Sterling Hall of Medicine Building). Doors to building are not open until 7:00 a.m. Turn right at the guard desk and see stairwell on the left just before entrance to the library. Take the stairs to the 2nd floor and turn left. Take first left and go up short flight of stairs. At end of hallway you will enter circular rotunda and on the other side is the rotunda walkway is the Beaumont Room. The registration table will be set-up outside the Beaumont Room on the right.
Agenda
Registration is from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Please do not arrive any later than 7:45 a.m.
At 8:00 a.m. our Department Chair, Program Directors and key faculty will welcome you.
The day will conclude at approximately 4:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Pre-Interview Dinner
We will not hold a Pre-Interview Dinner the night prior to the preliminary interview days; however, you will have the opportunity to interact privately during your interview day with residents and faculty.
General Schedule
Your preliminary interview day will include one interview, in-depth informational sessions about both of our preliminary internship programs, morning report, and tours of the Yale University/Yale–New Haven Hospital campus and the Waterbury Hospital Health Center community campus. You will receive an individualized itinerary the morning you arrive with the name of your faculty interviewer (we can not provide your itinerary in advance).
We will return by shuttle bus to the Yale University/Yale–New Haven Hospital campus from the Waterbury Hospital Health Center campus some time between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. Please do not schedule any departures any earlier than 5:00 p.m. out of New Haven. If you are departing from Bradley International Airport it will take you up to one and one-half hours travel time from New Haven with traffic.
